UTEP women use balance to hammer FAU, advance to C-USA quarters

FRISCO — The UTEP women's basketball team has managed to be an explosive group without one dominant explosive scorer, something that isn't easy to do.

Wednesday's 95-67 rout against Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Conference USA tournament showed the roadmap.

For the third time in program history, for the third time this season and for the second time this year against FAU, UTEP crested 90 points without having a single player go for more than 16.

In a victory that earned the seventh-seeded Miners a quarterfinal game against No. 2 seed Old Dominion, Sabine Lipe and Katarina Zec each scored 16, Ariona Gill had 15, Dejanae Roebuck scored 13 off the bench, Avery Crouse had 12 in the first half, Ariona Khlopkova added 10 and Katia Gallegos reaped a reward with eight assists.
