The UTEP women saved their season with last week's sweep of Charlotte and UTSA. Now they are in position to do something with it.
With a record of 16-7 overall and 9-5 in Conference USA, the Miners would help themselves immensely by winning four of their final six games. That would give them 20 wins heading into the C-USA tournament, likely as a No. 3 or 4 seed and that probably would be enough to make the WNIT, especially given the program's history of good attendance in the postseason.
UTEP would like to have those 20 wins before its final Middle Tennessee-Western Kentucky road trip, where they figure to be an underdog.
