UTEP women blown out at Florida International

The UTEP women's basketball team hit a low point, getting routed from the tip 72-45 by a Florida International team they had beaten seven consecutive times.

The Panthers scored the first five points on the way to a 24-5 first-quarter lead and UTEP couldn't climb back in it. The Miners shot 26 percent from the field and committed 25 turnovers.

The Miners fell to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in Conference USA after being swept on its Florida trip. FIU improved to 11-7, 3-4.

Katia Gallegos was the one Miner who had a big game, as she finished with 23 points, but no one else had more than six points.
