In a season of breakthroughs, the surging UTEP volleyball team looks for its biggest at this weekend’s Conference USA tournament in Norfolk, Va.
The Miners bring in a 20-6 record, a second seed from the West division and a program-best No. 50 power ranking (RPI) into Friday’s match against Florida International. The first-ever NCAA tournament bid could be two wins away.
Mostly what UTEP brings is belief that something special is within reach.
“I feel very confident, more confident than with any group before, that we can go win this thing,” coach Ben Wallis said.
