The UTEP Athletic department announced Sunday that all football operations will be suspended due to multiple COVID-19 positive tests with players on the roster. Saturday’s game against the Rice Owls was canceled the day of the game due to positive tests and contract tracing within the UTEP program.
Initially the Rice game originally scheduled to start at noon Saturday would be delayed pending a second round of testing participants, but two hours later the game was canceled.
For the Miners this is the second time this season that a game against Southern Mississippi has been canceled and the fifth game overall that will not be played as scheduled.
