UTEP starts offseason of change after loss to Rice

Rice 30, UTEP 16 Bret Bloomquist, Wochit

UTEP football coach Dana Dimel is out of town this coming week recruiting, which right now is the one piece of hope Miner fans can latch on to.

His first two classes exceeded expectations, if he can do it again UTEP will have some pieces that could point toward better days than the second consecutive 1-11 season. The Miners are now 2-23 in the three seasons since Aaron Jones left in 2016.

Dimel is positive his team made some big strides this season that didn't show up on the scoreboard, he pointed out that UTEP was on some level competitive in five of their 11 losses, including Saturday's 30-16 loss to Rice.
