The UTEP men's basketball team will host Western Illinois at 5 p.m. Tuesday for its first-round game in The Basketball Classic.
The Miners learned their opponent Monday morning and began the quick turnaround. The tip is two hours earlier than UTEP's usual time because the Haskins Center will have to be turned around for an Ice Cube concert Thursday.
The Leathernecks went 16-15 this season and 7-11 in the Summit League. They lost their first-round league tournament game to Oral Roberts.
Western Illinois is led by guard Trenton Massner, who averaged 16.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
