RUIDOSO, N.M. — Saturday was a good day for the defense, which was consistently able to pressure the quarterbacks from a variety of different places.
Gino Bresolin and Alvin Jones each had touch sacks (there will be no tackling on quarterbacks at any point in practice this year) and Brian Madunezim batted a ball down. This was the first day in shoulder pads for the team, which gets full pads Monday.
"I thought the defense got the upper hand in the two-minute drill," coach Sean Kugler said. "It was a good job by the defense overall."
The senior Madunezim was just a bit player until this year, as his career is eight games and four tackles, but after moving from tackle to end in the new 3-4 scheme, he debuted as a starter in the spring and has been ever since.
