UTEP Miners Football: Secondary is retooled as North Texas awaits

Opportunity arises in the most dire of times.

That’s where the UTEP football team’s secondary is entering the final regular season game of the year on, Friday at North Texas.

Four players who started much of the year are going into the transfer portal: Duron Lowe, Dennis Barnes, Dy’vonne Inyang and Broderick Harrell. That was four-fifths of UTEP’s starting secondary against Charlotte.

In are freshman safety McKel Broussard, junior safety Ty’Reke James, junior cornerback Robert Corner III and old hand at corner, senior Josh Caldwell.

For Broussard and James, this will be their first extended playing time, a look at the future that got thrust upon UTEP sooner than expected.
