UTEP men's basketball signs 6-foot-9 freshman, reportedly gets Oregon State transfer

The UTEP men's basketball team picked up some size with two remaining scholarships.

Kevin Kalu, a 6-foot-9 center from Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Baltimore, signed a national letter of intent and is immediately eligible as a freshman, UTEP coach Joe Golding announced Thursday.

Also, Alfred Hollins, a 6-foot-6 senior forward who started 53 games for Oregon State, announced via Instagram he is transferring to UTEP. The school has not yet announced his transfer.

Hollins averaged 19.3 minutes as a starter in 2019-20 when he scored 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, but played sparingly in the first three games of the past COVID year and entered the transfer portal.
