The UTEP men's basketball team's start to the 2019-20 season has been one of first-in-a-whiles.
The Miners are 8-0 at home for the first time and their first 8-1 overall start since 2003-04. UTEP also won the Sun Bowl tournament for the first time since 2014-15, and beat New Mexico State for the first time since 2014-15.
What they are trying to do next doesn't reach quite as far back, but it is more important. When they travel to Houston to take on the 6-3 Cougars as a road underdog Thursday, UTEP is trying to win on the road for the first time since 2017-18 and in the process break a 15-game road losing streak.
