UTEP closed the first half with a six-point run to grab a 37-31 intermission lead against Hawaii Sunday night in the opening game of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
The Miners led for the final six minutes of the half, but the lead went from seven to zero and back to six in that span.
Bryson Williams had 14 first-half points and Daryl Edwards added 11.
