UTEP's top men's basketball assistant coach, Lamont Smith, resigned Wednesday after his previous employer, the University of San Diego, informed UTEP that Smith has been implicated in the nationwide college admissions bribery scandal.
UTEP athletic director Jim Senter, who is on vacation during spring break, issued a statement through the UTEP sports information department, saying: "Earlier this afternoon, we were notified by the University of San Diego administration that Lamont Smith has been implicated in the nationwide college admissions bribery scandal.
