A San Diego coach that UTEP hired last year to be its assistant men's basketball coach resigned Wednesday after he was implicated in the nationwide college admissions bribery scandal, according to university officials.
Lamont Smith, who the Miners hired last year after he resigned from the University of San Diego following a domestic violence arrest, resigned from UTEP after the California school informed UTEP officials that he had been implicated in the scandal, which has included charges against Hollywood actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin.
