The incongruity of what the UTEP men’s basketball team is doing as it angles toward its Nov. 7 opener at Texas is fairly novel, but won’t be for long in the new college athletics landscape.
The Miners’ 15-player roster features 12 newcomers, but only two are newcomers to college basketball.
The challenge is integrating so many first-time Miners into a new system in a new setting. Making it easier is the fact that 10 have done this before, at least once, some twice.
The faces will be new to UTEP fans, and to each other, but this is a veteran team with experience from all over the country at a variety of levels.
