The UTEP men's basketball team's inconsistent offense played well enough to give the Miners a chance at a road victory Thursday night at Middle Tennessee.
Their normally stout defense couldn't take them across the line in an 84-72 loss that dropped them to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in Conference USA.
UTEP trimmed an 11-point deficit to 74-72 with 3:36 to play, but didn't score again as the Blue Raiders reeled off the last 10 points. After that high-water mark, the Miners missed their last four shots and MTSU made its last four, fitting on a night when the Raiders shot 60% from the field.
