UTEP loss to Middle Tennessee latest in saga of sad days for college football in Sun Bowl

Children scampered up and down and across the benches in the old stadium, few spectators around to interfere with their innocent fun.

The few fans who were there were sprawled out in the sun, sitting yards and yards apart.

And, for the most part, it was quiet. Too quiet.

It was hardly the image of game day in college football. It was, in fact, the antithesis of that atmosphere.
