UTEP juniors Linda Cheruiyot and Winny Koech qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Friday at the NCAA Mountain Region Cross Country Meet.
Cheruiyot ran the six kilometer course in 20:05.1 to finish 10th in the field of 136 runners Friday at the East Bay Golf Course in Provo, Utah.
Koech, who qualified for the national meet for the third time, finished 13th Friday with a time of 20:10.1. Weini Kelati of New Mexico ran 19:15.0 to win the meet.
The top 15 finishers qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championship Meet Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
