UTEP football team successfully reloads with young defensive backs

The No. 1 task on the UTEP football team‘s defensive to-do list entering the season was starting over in the secondary.

That’s where all three graduation losses were and soon enough presumed anchor, safety Justin Prince, was suspended.

That’s a lot to redo, but as UTEP heads into Saturday’s game at Charlotte, a unit that now starts a freshman and two new sophomores is increasingly become one of the team’s bright spots.

Facing a good 49ers passing attack led by sixth-year senior quarterback Chris Reynolds, that rebuilt secondary will be a major key to UTEP’s hopes.
