Five future games at Texas, starting next year and concluding in 2031, will earn the UTEP athletic program some money, while giving the Miners a marquee in-state opponent.
UTEP announced games at Texas in 2020, 2025, 2027, 2029 and 2031, as well as games at Oklahoma in 2022 and at Arizona in 2023. Financial details were not revealed but such games typically involved the host paying UTEP close to $1 million per game.
That won't hold true for this year's Miners game at Texas Tech, as the Red Raiders are paying back UTEP with a trip to El Paso next year.
