The countdown to the UTEP football team playing someone, at some point, begins Sunday in a familiar spot with the Miners looking for a quarterback.
Sophomore Gavin Hardison, freshman TJ Goodwin and sophomore Calvin Brownholtz will commence a duel that coach Dana Dimel hopes to sort through in one week, though when the first snap against an opponent will come is up in the air.
"We've got to be ready to play by Sept. 5," said Dimel, indicating UTEP is searching for an opponent after Texas Tech, acting under instruction from the Big 12, cancelled the scheduled opener.
