The advent of year-round football at the highest levels of the NCAA robs "the first day" of much of its meaning. Any newcomer introductions came a month ago.
Friday, though, officially fall practice No. 1 in Dana Dimel's new era as UTEP's head football coach, was special.
It was the beginning of a new era, ushered in by an expanded coaching and support staff, and change throughout the top always trickles over every inch of the field at Ruidoso.
