The UTEP football team's new recruiting philosophy of loading up on junior college players forgotten about in the transfer-portal era helped transform the program to a bowl team last year. In order to stay there, the Miners need immediate help at defensive back and receiver.
Those two trends dovetailed in UTEP's 2020 signing day class when the Miners added 15 players, including three junior college receivers and three junior college defensive backs to compliment the seven players they signed in December.
The 15 players announced Wednesday (that number includes walk-ons) feature seven high school players and eight junior college transfers.
