After two weeks of getting lit up by spread passing teams who extended UTEP's losing streak to seven, the Miners get a bit of a throwback opponent visiting the Sun Bowl Saturday afternoon in the Charlotte 49ers.
At this point, that can't be a bad thing.
UTEP is hoping a change in styles can lead to a change on the scoreboard and the 49ers present the Miners with two characteristics they welcome: A hard-nosed running style on offense and a defense that has given up more points per game than anyone else in Conference USA.
