UTEP tied a beautiful bow around an amazing and memorable basketball season Saturday afternoon in the Don Haskins Center.
Senior Dominic Artis drained a 3-pointer 30 seconds into the game and the Miners never trailed. Charlotte would never go away and the outcome was not absolutely assured until the final minute.
But it was a UTEP win and a UTEP day that wrapped up a most unusual regular season.
The Miners dusted Charlotte 74-67 in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 8,155 on Saturday, clinching the fourth and final bye in the opening round of next week's Conference USA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala.
