UTEP blows big lead in second half against Charlotte

Justin Garrett's work ethic paves way to breakout Bret Bloomquist, Wochit

Throughout their long losing streak punctuated by terrible starts, UTEP was left wondering what would happen if they just give themselves a chance going into halftime.

They know now, and the answer — a 28-21 Charlotte win that dropped the Miners to 1-8 — wasn't kind.

Despite all their second-half struggles, the Miners moved the ball to the Charlotte 20-yard line with 1:10 left, but quarterback Kai Locksley, who was playing a mostly rock-solid game (15-of-20 passing, 84 yards rushing), threw an interception under duress to end the Miners' chances.
