UTEP and New Mexico State will renew their keenest rivalry, the duel on hardwood, Friday night at 7 p.m. in the Pan American Center in Las Cruces.
While the two old rivals love to beat each other in any sport, it is in basketball where they have found the most success.
UTEP, then as Texas Western, has a national championship. New Mexico State has a trip to the Final Four. And, in 1992, each of these teams reached the Sweet 16.
Each team comes into this season's first meeting at 1-0, each taking an easy opening night win Tuesday.
