Four days late for Christmas, the UTEP women's basketball team gift-wrapped a game to Tulsa on Sunday, falling 58-51 on an afternoon when they turned the ball over 22 times, went 13-25 from the free-throw line and shot 35 percent.
On a day when both teams looked like they were coming off long layoffs, the game was close throughout — the final margin of seven points was Tulsa's largest lead — but the Miners couldn't make enough shots late and lost their third straight to fall to 7-4.
There were certainly opportunities for the Miners, who led 46-43 before a scoring drought of 4:40 led to an 8-point Tulsa run.
