The Southern Miss football team finds itself in an uncommon spot this week.
Immediately after getting handled 49-7 at No. 2 Alabama, the Golden Eagles get UTEP in Hattiesburg.
“Another good team,” USM coach Jay Hopson said earnestly, though presumably there are differences between Alabama and UTEP greater than red versus orange color schemes.
Just as Southern Miss stepped up in class this week, relative to Conference USA, the Miners are doing that this week.
