Selling El Paso was a large part of UTEP football's recruiting strategy

Dana Dimel had a sense of one of UTEP's great assets as a university even before he and his staff hit the recruiting trail, but as he began assembling a class of 27 new players that was introduced at a Wednesday signing day luncheon, it was driven home again and again.

"We really tried to sell El Paso," Dimel said of his first group of recruits, which includes seven transfers and 20 high school players, several of whom are preferred walk-ons.
