Editor’s Note: This is the second part of a three-part series about Harlon “Khalil” Gilbert’s journey pursuing professional basketball.
For Harlon “Khalil” Gilbert, the love for basketball didn‘t start with a clipboard or a playbook; it started with an icon.
Growing up, his favorite player was Allen Iverson, whose signature crossover became the very first move young Gilbert mastered on the concrete.
“The dopamine rush that I would get just from shifting somebody really bad or just scoring the ball or making a good play. It was just a never-ending rush that I never got tired of,” Gilbert said.
