Discussing the 1966 Texas Western basketball team's national title never gets old for many in El Paso, and Friday afternoon fans got to hear stories about the legendary season from members of the championship team.
At Memorial Gym on the campus now known as the University of Texas at El Paso, this year's basketball team, members of late former coach Don Haskins' family and other dignitaries gathered to hear a panel discussion featuring some of El Paso's basketball royalty. The event was part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Texas Western beating Kentucky, 72-65, at Cole Field House in College Park, Md.
