'One-two punch': Here's why UTEP RBs Deion Hankins and Ronald Awatt are thriving

On a team full of older veterans, UTEP's stable of running backs stands out. It brings the kind of experience that was rare before the COVID age and is still rare in the transfer portal age.

Between sixth-year senior Ronald Awatt and fourth-year sophomore Deion Hankins, the Miners' two-deep at tailback has a combined decade in the system. They've both played well in Miner uniforms for some time, they are the most proven of returning commodities and that is the reason this could be their best year yet.

UTEP is loaded at running back and much of their hope for 2022 assumes this will be a strong point.
