The good news for UTEP is that Alvin Jones was in pads Tuesday, though his involvement in practice was limited to jogging around Glory Field and he is questionable for Saturday's game with Southern Miss.
"We're hoping to have him," coach Sean Kugler said. "We'll monitor it throughout the week."
End Gene Hopkins, who also has a sprained ankle, was not in pads and was riding a stationary bike. Nosetackle Gino Bresolin was limited in practice but Kugler said he'll be fine for the game.
Interestingly, Ryan Metz took most of the first-team reps at quarterback but Kugler reaffirmed that Zack Greenlee will be the starter against Southern Miss.
