In font of 2,099 fans in a packed house for the NIVC quarterfinals, the Miners won a three-hour match against Weber State when it converted its eighth match point in a 25-21, 26-28, 25-23, 34-36, 15-9 victory.
Serena Patterson finally secured a spot in Thursday's semifinal against UNLV on her 11th kill on a night when she had 18 digs. Paulina Perez Rosas led the way with 20 kills and 18 digs.
"I went for it, they weren't blocking, so I'm going, 'I'm going to chip this in on the back line'," Patterson said of match point, which finally rewarded a crowd that spent long portions of the match on its feet.
