Miners have impressive indoor performances

Freshman middle distance runner Emmanuel Korir ran a world best in the 600-meter run and sophomore All-American Tobi Amusan won twice to pace UTEP in the Cherry & Silver Indoor Invitational Friday and Saturday in Albuquerque.

It was the Miners' second indoor meet of the season and the second impressive showing by Korir. Last week in Nashville, Tenn., he ran the fastest time in the nation in the 800-meters and Friday evening in Albuquerque he won the 600-meter run in a world best 1:14.97. It is not a world record only because the 600-meter run is not a sanctioned IAAF indoor event.
