Miners defang Wildcats, improve to 7-1

Overcoming a sloppy first half with poor shooting from the floor and foul line, the UTEP Miners took control in the second half with strong defense and a career-best performance from Senior Jade Rochelle to beat Weber State 70-51.

Through the first six minutes of the first quarter, the Miners had only 5 points, with 11 different players seeing the floor. The Miners were 2-9 shooting and missed all their free throws to this point. Finally, at the 3:10 mark, senior forward, Ariana Gill scored to give the Miners its first lead at 7-6. A mistake-filled quarter from both teams had the Miners with a slim 11-10 first-quarter lead.
