The favored UTEP women came into the Conference USA Track & Field Championships knowing they had a little room to spare in their chase for a title.
Winny Koech, Fayon Gonzales and Lucia Mokrasova just bought them some more along with a trio of medals.
Koech pulled an upset to give UTEP its first victory of the meet in the 10,000 meters, Gonzales moved from seventh to a surprising third on her final hammer throw and Mokrasova finished two days of work with a silver medal in the heptathlon.
