Most spring practices have something that makes them unique, and for a UTEP football team that kicks off its 15-practice spring Monday morning, what defines 2023 is how many new faces will be at Glory Field.
Between the NCAA transfer portal and relaxed rules on how many scholarships a team can give in a recruiting period, UTEP has a bonanza of new players to break in — 23 scholarship newcomers to be precise are here this spring.
"I'm excited because it's the first time we've been able to sign this many scholarship guys," coach Dana Dimel said on the eve of his sixth spring.
