Bob Stull has been the University of Texas at El Paso athletic director since 1998, Stull will retire Thursday to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.

On the day before Thanksgiving, UTEP went outside the family to find its new athletic director.

Jim Senter, who spent the last three years at the Citadel after seven years in Colorado's athletic administration, will become UTEP's new athletic director, the university announced Wednesday.

His hiring ends a 21-week search that began on Aug. 31 when Bob Stull announced his retirement, a search that eventually narrowed down to Senter and Stull's top assistant Chris Park.
