There are many ways to quantify how special of a season UTEP superstar receiver Jacob Cowing is having and how he's done it as he looks to rewrite the school record book Friday at UAB.
The one that means the most is that he's earned the No. 2 jersey for next season.
That number, with the name Laufenberg on the back, is currently worn by graduating senior Justin Garrett. Before him it was worn by Luke Laufenberg in the spring of 2019 when he was a starting tight end. Laufenberg passed away in August 2019 after a battle with leukemia and his No.
