There is some irony that Justin Garrett, the star UTEP wide receiver who every day, every practice, every down, embodies the mantra of playing for the name on the front of the jersey, is now also playing for the name on the back of his jersey.
Why it makes so much sense is because that name isn't his. When Garrett takes the field Saturday afternoon at Louisiana-Monroe, and for all but one game the rest of the season, the name on the back will be that of his late teammate, Luke Laufenberg, who one year ago died of leukemia.
