The UTEP tennis team and star sophomore Carlotta Mencaglia made a little history earlier this month when the Miners won at UAB, marking the team's first Conference USA victory since 2019 and first league road victory since 2016.
It wasn't easy, as the match was tied 3-3 when Mencaglia, playing at No. 2 singles, won a three-setter to give the Miners a 4-3 victory. This came a month after the player from Rome, Italy became UTEP's first tennis C-USA player of the week since 2017.
UTEP is back in action April 8 at Louisiana Tech.
