El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser buys 5,000 UTEP football tickets to treat city, Sheriff's Office workers

Who has the most UTEP Miner spirit? It just might be El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser.

The mayor bought 5,000 tickets to the 7 p.m. Aug. 27 UTEP football game against the University of North Texas to support UTEP Athletics’ “915” campaign and to thank employees with the city, Police Department, Fire Department and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for their dedication, a news release said.

A push is on to help the Miners sell out the game.

The goal of the “915” campaign is to embrace and engage the El Paso community while generating excitement for the Miners, the news release said.
