Dimel weighs 'fine line' of playing younger players as Charlotte comes to town

As UTEP gets ready to play Charlotte this week, Miners coach Dana Dimel acknowledged "a fine line I'm walking" as he balances the desire to salvage something out of this season while building toward the future by playing young players.

That becomes an issue with four games left in this 1-7 season because of the new NCAA rule that allows anyone to play four games and keep a redshirt, but Dimel said the biggest priority is to win.

"We don't want to do anything that jeopardizes the opportunity to win football games," Dimel said Monday at his weekly press conference.
