AUSTIN — Grant Levesque's first experience at the NCAA Track and Field Championships wasn't his best day, but it was fun and productive.

The Rice sophomore and Coronado alum sits in 11th place after five events that included a wind-legal personal best in the 100 meters and a big personal record in the shot put.

For UTEP, steeplechaser Victor Kibiego comfortably and automatically qualified for Friday's finals by finishing fifth in his heat.

Levesque opened in style, running a wind-legal personal best of 10.66 with the wind at the legal maximum of 2.0 meters-per-second.
