Longtime El Paso area high school football coach Chuck Veliz is back doing what he loves and that's coaching football.
Veliz, a 1982 graduate of Ysleta and a 1987 graduate of UTEP, will coach wide receivers for UTEP. His addition to the staff was formally announced on Friday morning after the third practice of spring drills for the Miners.
"I'm excited about the opportunity. I've always wanted to give coaching a try on the Division I level and to get it here at UTEP, the school I graduated from, is very special," Veliz said.
