Aggies overcome early turnovers with lights-out shooting, manhandle Miners 77-71 in Battle of I-10's return to Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES — The turnover bug doesn't regularly bite New Mexico State head coach Chris Jans' teams, but when it does, it bites hard.

But Saturday night against rival UTEP at the Pan American Center — the first Battle of I-10 since 2019 — the Aggies had the antidote to the first-half bug in their 77-71 win.

NMSU overcame eight turnovers in the first seven minutes with a its best shooting performance of the early two-game season, hitting 52% of shots and eight 3-pointers to continually gift the Aggies a desperately-needed cushion any time the Miners drew close.
