Fall camp 2016 opens today for the University of Utah football team, and news came out this morning that senior wide receiver Cory Butler-Byrd has been indefinitely suspended.

“Cory is dealing with personal issues and has been suspended from our team indefinitely,” said Utah football head coach Kyle Whittingham.

Per the University’s press release, Butler-Byrd will stay on scholarship but will not be allowed to participate in team activities while he is suspended. Butler-Byrd was listed atop the depth chart at slot receiver heading into fall camp. He started five games for Utah last season at cornerback and wide receiver before fully switching to wide receiver this spring.
