Whittingham, Utah agree to 2-year contract extension through 2020

SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah announced Friday its agreement to keep football head coach Kyle Whittingham through the 2020 season.

Whittingham received a two-year extension through the 2020 season, according to athletics director Chris Hill. Whittingham will receive $3.3 million per season, per the university, which is $700,000 more than he received in the 2015 season.

"We are excited about the contract extension for coach Whittingham and look forward to continued success in the Pac-12 Conference under his leadership," Hill said in a media release.

Whittingham thanked both Hill and university President David Pershing, saying it "gives further stability to our football program and what we are trying to accomplish.
